The Galagediyana Ella falls of SriLanka is one more such example of the ecstatic waterfalls of the country.
This waterfall is very close to Colombo can be reached off Dedigama-where the famous KotaveheraDagoba is located.This mammoth veil of water is 35 feet high and like the Ravana Ella is again one of the widest falls in Lanka.
Literally Galagediyana means large number of stones and it is one of the widest falls in SriLankaThe gracious flow of water amidst wilderness that carries with itself small rocks which create an obstacle in its path and flows down to form pools of water meandering later into silent streams-the virtual picture in itself seems to be a painting.

You can reach Dhuwili Waterfalls from Balangoda.There are about 27 kilometeres from Balangoda town and you have to walk 3kms from Kalthota.
Baker's waterfall is one of very beautiful waterfalls in SriLanka. This waterfalls is height about 22 meters.It is very beautiful because in various corners we can see various scenarios. The Baker's Falls in the Horton Plains gets its water from the BelihulOya.

It is close to World's End. The icy waters glisten in the sunshine amid a backdrop of mountain terrain and deep valleys and the Patna through which you traverse give it contrast. If you are lucky you may see the rare black monkey and rhododendrons in bloom.

The Kirindi Oya Falls is the third largest waterfall. Placed on the Kirindi Ella watercourse the amazing Kirindi falls or Kirindi Ella falls is 116 meters in height which approximately stands to about 381 feet for its tallest single droplet of water. The waterfall type can be called as that of a horsetail. The Kirindi Ella River has several other sources at Kuttapitiya Kande. The river flows into the Denewak Ganga, which is a tributary river of the magnificent Kalu Ganga.
HOE TO VISIT:-
It can be seen when you go from Ratnapura to Pelmadulla and get on to the Katupitiya road which goes by a tea factory. You have to go along a foot path just beyond the tea factory and if you do not mind the wild grass and reeds, you could go quite close to the waterfall
Devon's waterfall is one of the most famous waterfalls of SriLanka. The fall is situated in the Devon estate, named after Devon-a pioneer coffee planter.It is gigantic fall, 318 ft high and has several cascades that add to its beauty.
It is famed for its queer appearance. The falls constitute of three uninterrupted cascades. Devon gushes down to a vale below and is closely situated to the St. Clairs waterfalls. There is a well defined clear area in front of the huge waterfall that imparts an even more gigantic look to it. On the main road at the reverse side of Devon, habitation of a modern tea centre is noticed.

It is best visible from the 20th mile post of the Talawakele-Nawalapitiya highway. A drive from SriLanka’s capital, Colombo city via Avissawella will lead you to get a view of this exquisite sight. One can reach the falls via Hatton-N'Eliya road.
Saint Claire is the widest waterfall in SriLanka.It is composed of two waterfalls-"Maha Ella" and "Kuda Ella". "Maha Ella" is 80m high and falls in three cascades down to Kothmale fall.. It eventually immerses into a big pool creating gauzy veils. The smaller one of the two is the "Kuda Ella" that is 60 meter high and is located on a tributary of the KothmaleOya.
It is a fascinating and tempting sight for anyone who would want to take a bath in the cool water of St. Claire falls. The place is well reachable from a declivities through a green hued tea plantation ground. The falls are named after a British colonist. Saint Claire is however endangered by a purported hydro-power scheme in the location.

The collective gallant Saint Claire Waterfall is near to the main road from Avissawella to Nuwara-Eliya and is visible enough from the A-7 road and Main Line rail track close to Talawakelle.
Ravana Ella is one of the widest falls in SriLanka.The fall has a height of about 30 foot and plunges over a series of steps into the valley. The fall is fed by a tributary of River Kirindi.
The Ravana Ella, SriLanka has its roots connected to the times of the famous eastern epic, Ramayana and it has been named after the brawny daemon ruler of Lanka, Ravana. It is said that after kidnapping Sita, Ravana had hidden her at the caves behind this waterfall when Shri Rama was drawing close to Lanka with his army to rescue her. The cave came to be known as Ravana Ella cave. The place was then a thick afforested region in the midst of wilderness. Rama’s queen is believed to have wandered around here while she was confined. She also bathed in a pool that accumulated its eddying water from these Ravana Falls. The Ravana Ella cave lies 4500 feet above sea level on the foundation of a cliff in Uva.
Duhinda is a spectacular waterfall situated close to Badulla, an ancient hill capital. Fed by Baduluoya, a tributary of Mahawelli Ganga, the fall is 210 foot high. Dunhinda" is one of the mostly spoken-about waterfalls in Sri Lanka.The falls are the highest on the Badulu Oya River that flows on the mountain border of the Uva highlands and eventually surrenders itself to the Mahaweli Ganga.It is said to be the most awesome waterfall of the country.Its water smashes on the bouldered surface with high velocity and falls down into a large pool.
In native tongue "Dun" means mist or vapour which is the ideal explanation for a waterfall creating wreathes of mist on its way down.
Situated about 2 km distance from the main road which runs to Taldena from the remote city Badulla in the Uva Province this is easily accesible and frequently visited by local and foreign visitors
HOW TO VISITE:-
To reach the fall, one has to travel about 5 km from Badulla along the Mahiyangana road, and trek for another 2 km, away from the main road.
On the way can be seen the "Kuda Dunhinda" ( "Kuda" means small in Sinhala ) which is the prologue to its mighty brother .
Diyaluma is the 2nd highest waterfall of SriLanka with a height of 559 foot. Fed by the PoonagalaOya.
The fall has a folklore attached to it. According to a legend Gods, seeing the heartbreak of a prince whose runaway romance ended in the death of his sweetheart whom he had tried to haul over the Diyaluma precipice, created this beautiful cascade to weep forever in the wilderness.
Rainfall occurs in large volume in SriLanka and the pour of this waterfall is very heavy during the rainy season. Its geographical location across the Highways that traverses the Hill Country to the Plains is a sight worth watching.

Diyaluma Waterfall is approximately around 13 Km away from the Wellawaya town and 6 km from Koslanda on the Wellawaya road
Bopath Ella is a spectacular waterfall situated close to Colombo.The height of bobathella approximately about 100 feet or 30 meters.The Bopath Ella falls deposits itself on the KuruGanga which is a tributary of the larger river KaluGanga.The name Bopath Ella derives from its perfect heart-shaped head, much like the leaf of the sacred Bo tree.Tthe name is self explanatory of its beauty and shape.Bo is a tropical tree under which Lord Buddha had attained enlightenment. Path comes from the word Pata that means leaf.The fall originally has its fame for this absolute beauty of the natural form.
It is one of the favorites picnic spot of SriLankans due to its proximity to the city of Colombo.

just 15 km from Colombo-Ratnapura road, once reached the Higashena junction, and then branches off to the Agalawatta road and from there its only a few minutes to bopathella.

BAMBARAKANDA ELLA
Bambarakanda Ella is the highest waterfall in SriLanka with a height of 263m .
This water fall is situated 4900 feet above the sea level.Waterfall starts from Mahaeliya (Horton Plains) the leading strict reserve in the country). A glorious spectacle from October to March when heavy rains turn it in to an impressive, unbroken deluge.It is truly spectacular sight to see the Bambarakanda break into an overwhelming waterspout in these months.This waterfall is even taller than the famous Diyaluma falls which in itself is 559 feet in height.
Bambarakanda Ella pours like as if light has been liquefied and its barrier has been left loose to outflow. The fall is only four miles distant from the Colombo-Bandarawela route that passes in the form of a clear tract of road from the midsection of forest.
HOW TO VISIT :-
The main access to the falls is along a minor but mortable road via Haputale and Kalupahana.Kalupahana is 22 km from Balangoda or 32 km from Wellawaya.from kalupahana proceeding 3 km along a narrow road through Weerakoongama you come to the gorgeous waterfall. The most striking feature of the picture fall is the pattern of the entire watercourse swaying to and fro because of the strong winds blowing across it.
