SAINT CLAIRE WATERFALL
Saint Claire is the widest waterfall in Sri Lanka. It is composed of two waterfalls-"Maha Ella" and "Kuda Ella". "Maha Ella" is 80m high and falls in three cascades down to Kothmale fall.. It eventually immerses into a big pool creating gauzy veils. The smaller one of the two is the "Kuda Ella" that is 60 meter high and is located on a tributary of the Kothmale Oya.
It is a fascinating and tempting sight for anyone who would want to take a bath in the cool water of St. Claire falls. The place is well reachable from a declivities through a green hued tea plantation ground. The falls are named after a British colonist. Saint Claire is however endangered by a purported hydro-power scheme in the location.
HOW TO VISIT:-
The collective gallant Saint Claire Waterfall is near to the main road from Avissawella to Nuwara-Eliya and is visible enough from the A-7 road and Main Line rail track close to Talawakelle.
