Bopath Ella is a spectacular waterfall situated close to Colombo.The height of bobath ella approximately about 100 feet or 30 meters.The Bopath Ella falls deposits itself on the Kuru Ganga which is a tributary of the larger river Kalu Ganga.The name Bopath Ella derives from its perfect heart-shaped head, much like the leaf of the sacred Bo tree.Tthe name is self explanatory of its beauty and shape.Bo is a tropical tree under which Lord Buddha had attained enlightenment. Path comes from the word Pata that means leaf.The fall originally has its fame for this absolute beauty of the natural form.

It is one of the favorites picnic spot of SriLankans due to its proximity to the city of Colombo.

HOW TO VISIT :-

just 15 km from Colombo-Ratnapura road, once reached the Higashena junction, and then branches off to the Agalawatta road and from there its only a few minutes to bopath ella.
